Orbit Logic to Develop New Collection Planning System for GeoEye Partners

GREENBELT, MD, (March 27, 2007) -- Orbit Logic announced today that it received a new Task Order under an existing contract with GeoEye (Nasdaq: GEOY) for the development and delivery of a new version of its Collection Planning System for use by GeoEye fixed and mobile ground station partners, and upgrades to the GeoEye-1 headquarters software to support the partner ground stations. GeoEye plans to launch their next-generation commercial imaging satellite later this year from Vandenberg AFB, Calif. When operational, GeoEye-1 will be the world’s highest resolution commercial Earth imaging satellite with a ground resolution of 0.41-meters (or about 16 inches).

The new Collection Planning software will be based on software already delivered by Orbit Logic for GeoEye-1 operational mission planning, collection planning, and collection planning analysis at their Dulles control center and other U.S. facilities. The software incorporates high fidelity GeoEye-1 spacecraft models and provides multiple algorithms to generate optimized collection plans. The software will allow GeoEye’s ground station partners to independently generate optimized collection plans for their allocated spacecraft tasking windows. The new software version is expected to be available by the end of 2007.

“This new task order is a logical extension of the collection planning system we have already delivered to GeoEye.” said Orbit Logic president Alex Herz. “GeoEye already has the most advanced collection planning capability commercially available for use at headquarters, and they are extending this capability out to their ground station partners.”
