Orbit Logic to Provide Collection Planning Software to MDA
GREENBELT, MD, (June 6, 2007) -- Orbit Logic announced today that it has signed an agreement with MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (MDA) for the development and delivery of collection planning software for incorporation into MDA’s satellite ground stations for an upcoming high resolution satellite program. MDA ground stations are a key component of this satellite program providing command, control, and image processing support for the satellite.
As part of this program, Orbit Logic’s collection planning software will allow ground station operators to request and manage satellite imaging plans for ground targets. Multiple planning algorithms included in the software provide automated optimization of collection plans, reducing planning time while also improving collection results. A user-friendly graphical interface also allows for manual insight and control of the planning process when necessary. The delivered collection planning software will be based on software previously developed by Orbit Logic for other imaging satellite operators. Plans generated by Orbit Logic’s collection planning software are used to generate spacecraft commands. The collection planning software will be delivered to MDA in late 2007 for integration with the rest of the ground station components.
“Our collection planning software, along with the rest of MDA’s proven ground station components, will allow MDA’s customers to get the most out of this satellite program.”
said Orbit Logic president Alex Herz. “We look forward to a long relationship with MDA.”
