Orbit Logic Chosen Sole Provider for NextView Planning System Contract
GREENBELT, MD, (October 24, 2005) -- Orbit Logic announced today that after a down-select process, it has been chosen as the sole provider by ORBIMAGE for their next generation ORBIMAGE collection planning system (CPS). This is the second phase of a contract originally awarded in April 2005 under ORBIMAGE’s NextView Second Vendor Program contract with the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). Orbit Logic will upgrade the current operational OrbView Tasking System (OTS), used for OrbView-3 planning operations and originally delivered by Orbit Logic in 2001, to support enhanced imagery collection planning for both OrbView-3 and OrbView-5.
CPS will support both automated and manual imaging plan development at the ORBIMAGE Operations Center in Dulles, VA, based on a database of requested imaging targets. Along with adding the OV5 planning option to the existing OV3 planning capability, Orbit Logic will develop enhanced capabilities for lights-out planning operations for both satellites and automated scheduling and deconfliction of OrbView-3/5 ground contacts. Like OTS, CPS will be integrated with Satellite Tool Kit from Analytical Graphics for supporting map graphics and collection plan visualization. The system will incorporate new high-fidelity OrbView-5 spacecraft attitude, power, data storage, and constraint models to supplement the existing OrbView-3 models.
